The US-China trade war has been a series of ups and downs, retaliations and threats for both parties involved. What started in early 2018 as a tariff on steel imports has now turned into something much bigger, and its impacts have been felt worldwide. From early 2018 the tension and sanctions between the two countries had risen dramatically, peaking in October 2019. However, with the signing of the Phase One deal in January 2020 tensions really seemed to be de-escalating quickly and smoothly, until COVID-19 posed a new series of unforeseen problems for the two countries. Despite this new challenge both countries seem to be heading down the same road, although a bumpy one.
